Folders

Monday, August 16th, your child will come home with a red "daily" folder and a blue "reading" folder. Our folders will enable us to keep good home-school communication, so they must be returned to school daily. If your child's folders are not returned to school each day, your child will owe "Encore" (afternoon recess time) until he/she returns them.

Red Folder:
If you have a note for me, lunch money, or any other important papers, you may place it in the red folder.
Inside your child's "Daily Folder," you will find two labels. The left pocket will be labeled for papers that should be left at home. These will normally be activities that your child has completed throughout that school day, as well as various notes from the school. The right pocket is for papers that need your attention, and need to come right back to school.
Also inside the right pocket you will find your child's behavior calendar. Each afternoon he/she will color that date with their card color for the day. For example, if your child had to pull a card on Monday during the school day, he/she would color the 16th yellow.
Please sign the calendar every Saturday and visit with your child about his/her behavior.

Blue Folder:
Your child will come home every night with their blue "Nightly Reading Folder." Most nights, your child will have a "free choice" reading assignment. Other nights, there will be a paper book or a hard-back reading book for your child to read from. Either way, please read with - or to - your child for at least 20 minutes every night. Please sign the calendar in the folder each night to indicate that your have seen and completed the reading assignment. If this is not done, your child will stay in from "Encore" and complete his/her reading assignment at that time.
